Prototype and Background
In the mid - 1970s, the per - diem box car boom started. New, colorful box cars popped up quickly, many for short lines. FMC built many of these cars. The 50’ outside post, non - terminating end box car was the base for new per - diem cars in the 70s. The 50’ FMC cars had different door styles for customers. You can still see these models in modern railroads today.
Specifications

This Athearn HO scale boxcar is ready to use right out of the box as no assembly is required. It's great for model railroad enthusiasts aged 14 and up. To operate it, simply place it on your track. The wheels with RP25 contours are designed to work smoothly on all popular brands of track, as long as the track has a minimum radius of 18 inches. When handling the boxcar, be gentle with the separately applied brake wheel and the positionable sliding double doors to avoid damage. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the painted and printed surfaces. Keep it in a dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve its colors and details. Also, make sure to check the body - mounted McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers regularly to ensure they are in good working condition.
