This Atlas HO Scale PS-2 Covered Hopper represents Northern Pacific #75422 in striking gray and black. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Covered hoppers are a modern addition to the car family. Until the 1980s, the AAR classified them as “special” cars before giving them their own category. These early designs, built by Pullman - Standard from the late 1940s to the 1950s, were for efficient cement loading and unloading. With eight round roof hatches for quick loading and two large gravity gates for fast discharge, it has a 2,003 - cubic - foot capacity. Features include 50 - ton friction or 70 - ton roller bearing trucks (depending on the road name), detailed brake gear, Accumate® couplers, and prototypical painting and printing.

Using this covered hopper is easy. First, you can load your cargo through the eight round roof hatches. When it's time to unload, the two large gravity gates will quickly discharge the commodity. As for the trucks, make sure you choose the right type (50 - ton friction or 70 - ton roller) according to the road name. When handling the model, be gentle with the detailed brake gear and Accumate® couplers to avoid any damage. To keep it in good condition, store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight. You can clean it with a soft, dry cloth every once in a while to remove dust.
