Step into the golden age of model railroading with our ScaleTrains SXT1220 Montour #136 40-foot 70-ton 4-bay open hopper kit in classic HO scale. Note that the picture might show a different road number. This easy-to-build kit only requires a Phillips screwdriver, glue, and just a few minutes to assemble. It's an ideal choice for passing on the timeless tradition of model railroading to the next generation. The kit features an all-new roadname, multiple road numbers, finely cast stirrup steps, end ladders, grab irons, underbody and brake system, molded interior detail with rivets and side wall bracing, a separately applied handbrake wheel, one-piece detailed Bettendorf trucks, 33-inch machined metal wheels, accurately profiled 0.110-inch wide wheel tread, plastic semi-scale Type E knuckle couplers (Kadee compatible), a body-mounted coupler box for Kadee whisker couplers, and it's weighted to industry standards. It operates on Code 70, 83, and 100 rail, and the packaging safely stores the model when assembled. With a minimum radius of 18 inches, it offers great flexibility. In 1926, the Car Construction Committee of the American Railroad Association (ARA) designed this 70-ton self-clearing hopper car, using as many standards as possible and sharing common features with the shorter 50-ton car. Over ten thousand cars were built for 7 different railroads between 1926 and 1930, and many lasted into the 1960s, with some finding second-hand owners.

Using this hopper model kit is a breeze. First, gather a Phillips screwdriver and some glue. Open the packaging carefully and take out all the parts. Start by following the included instructions to assemble the basic structure. Use the screwdriver for parts that need screwing and the glue for others. It should only take a few minutes to finish. When operating the model, make sure the track is in good condition and is of Code 70, 83, or 100 rail. The minimum radius for the track should be 18 inches. As for maintenance, keep the model clean. You can use a soft cloth to wipe off dust. Check the wheels regularly to ensure they rotate smoothly. If you notice any loose parts, use the appropriate tool to tighten them. Store the model in the provided packaging when not in use to keep it safe.
