The Atlas 10003746 is an exquisite HO scale model train of the SD-24 Low Nose locomotive, representing the Southern Pacific #7202 in a beautiful gold color. It comes equipped with DCC and sound features. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The SD-24 locomotive, produced by EMD from July 1958 to March 1963, had over 220 units. Powered by a turbocharged 567D-3 prime mover and a C-C wheel arrangement, it could generate 2,400 hp. Most of the SD-24s were bought by four major railroads: Chicago Burlington & Quincy, Santa Fe, Southern, and Union Pacific. Atlas' HO scale model has unique details for each railroad. For Burlington (CB&Q), it has a high nose, a single-chime air horn on the short hood, a non-operating Gyra-light on the short hood, and a winterization hatch. Santa Fe models have a low nose and a 3-chime horn on the left side of the hood behind the cab. Southern models feature a high nose, a 5-chime horn on the cab, and a bell detail on the short hood. Union Pacific models have a low nose, a 3-chime horn between the 2nd and 3rd radiator fans, and a winterization hatch.

Using this model train is easy. First, make sure your DCC system is set up correctly and compatible with the train's DCC functionality. Connect the train to the power source and use your DCC controller to start, stop, and control the speed of the train. You can also enjoy the realistic sound effects that add to the fun. When handling the train, be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate parts. Keep it away from dust and moisture to prevent any rust or electrical issues. For maintenance, regularly clean the wheels and electrical contacts with a soft, dry cloth. If you notice any problems or the sound quality starts to degrade, check the connections and consider taking it to a professional model train repair service.
