The Rapido 139008-4 presents a HO scale model of the Canadian National Evans X72A Boxcar #416491. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Between 1972 and 1973, Penn Central got the first batch of over 1065 boxcars in the X72/X72A fleet from US Railroad Manufacturing's (Evans) plant in Blue Island, Illinois. In 1976, these cars went to Conrail, keeping their PC numbering and getting CR reporting marks. Some were fully repainted, while others just had patch jobs. After years with Penn Central/Conrail, CN acquired many of the remaining cars, and some have been sold to leasing companies recently. The X72A is the only subclass of the X72, and according to Jim Six, there's no external difference between them. Both have a welded 12 - panel construction and 6 - panel Superior doors. The X72 is a common general - purpose boxcar in North America, used in various services. Some cars have DF Belt Loaders for special equipment loading and unloading, and others have Dual Air Paks for shock control during shipment. The Rapido X72 Boxcar is amazing. It's drawn from original blueprints, with art from original design drawings and photos. It has separate door posts, latches, and coupler cut levers. The underframe is fully detailed with separate piping and equipment. The cushion draft gear is detailed and comes with Rapido semi - scale knuckle couplers. And it has fully - detailed 70 - ton trucks with 33” metal wheels.

Using this HO scale Rapido boxcar model is easy. You can simply place it on your model train track to enhance your layout. When handling it, be gentle as the separate parts like door posts and coupler cut levers can be delicate. Avoid dropping it to prevent damage to the detailed underframe and trucks. For maintenance, use a soft, dry cloth to dust it regularly. If there are stubborn stains, you can use a mild cleaning solution on a cloth and gently wipe the surface. Don't submerge the model in water as it may damage the details and electronics (if any). Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent color fading and warping.
