Rapido Trains Inc. is excited to present the HO scale rebuilt FL9, continuing the theme of rebuilt passenger locomotives. The FL9 was crucial for operations from Grand Central Terminal. In the 1980s, many were rebuilt and upgraded, with HEP replacing old steam heat boilers, and improved braking and electronics. Rebuilds were done in batches for Metro North and Amtrak. Four units were sold to the Connecticut Department of Transportation and rebuilt by Chrome Crankshaft in 1984 - 85. Operated by Metro North for ConnDOT, they wore the original New Haven McGinnis scheme. Later, Metro North repainted two units in a cool New York Central 'Lightning Stripe' scheme for the Hudson Line. The remaining FL9 fleet operated until 2009, the last F - units in daily mainline passenger service in the US. Two units served on the Maine Eastern until 2015. Our HO scale rebuilt FL9 model has great features like correct HEP roof details, updated underbody, modernized classification lights, nose and rear HEP receptacles, optional operating ditch lights, correct horns, and accurate paint schemes, along with all the amazing features from our first FL9 release.

Using this HO scale Rapido 14699 EMD FL9 model is easy. Just place it on your HO scale train track and connect it to your DCC system if you want to control its functions like sound. When handling the model, be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate parts such as the ditch lights or the classification lights. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body of the locomotive. Avoid using any harsh chemicals as they may damage the paint. If you notice any loose parts, it's best to contact the manufacturer for advice on how to fix them. Keep the model in a dry and dust - free place when not in use to ensure its longevity.
