This ATLAS HO scale model represents the 70 Ton Open Hopper of Chicago & Eastern Illinois (C&EI), numbered #86327 and painted in boxcar red and white. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Since the 1930s, this hopper was an industry standard on many railroads. The AAR recommended its design, but it lost popularity by the mid - 1950s. It had a larger capacity than cars with flat sides. However, the acidic coal interacted corrosively with the car's joints, leading to expensive rebuilding. Key features include true scale dimensions with accurate details, weighted and detailed underframes, AccuMate® Knuckle Couplers, trucks with free - rolling metal wheels, accurate painting and lettering, and a removable coal load. The AccuMate® couplers are licensed from AccuRail, Inc.

Using this model train is easy. Just place it on your HO scale track and let it roll! When handling the train, be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate details. If you want to change the coal load, simply remove the existing one and add a new one. To keep your model in great shape, regularly clean it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they might damage the paint and lettering. Store the train in a cool, dry place to prevent any rust or corrosion. Also, check the couplers and wheels from time to time to make sure they're working smoothly.
