Prototype Specific Information
The EMD F-units were diesel-electric locomotives produced from 1939 - 1960 by GM Electro-Motive and GM-Diesel. Assembled in Illinois and Canada, they were sold across North America. Structurally, they had a carbody design with a bulldog nose. They were very successful, replacing steam locomotives in freight service. Sometimes called 'covered wagons', trains with only F-units were 'wagon trains'. Information from Wikipedia under CC-BY-SA license.

Using this Athearn HO scale locomotive is easy. Since it's fully assembled, you can simply place it on your track and start running it right away. If you're using DCC, it's ready to go with the Quick Plug™ technology. For sound operation, it works in both DC and DCC modes, offering engine, horn, and bell sounds. Just connect it to your power source and enjoy. When running it, keep in mind the minimum radius of 18 inches, but a 22 - inch radius is recommended for better performance. As for maintenance, keep it clean. You can gently dust the locomotive with a soft brush to prevent dirt buildup. Check the wheels regularly for any debris that might affect its movement. If you notice any parts are damaged, replacement parts are available. And remember, this product is recommended for users 14 years and older.
