Prototype and Background:
In the 1960s, the railroading industry was on the verge of significant change. The North American Car Corporation designed and built a 50’ outside post, insulated, plug door box car. This car was a sign of future developments. Many railroads used this car, often leased to private shippers. The NACC cars had eye - catching paint schemes. When they were built, general leasing, billboard paint schemes, and modern freight handling were still about a decade away.

Using this Athearn N Scale box car is a breeze. Just connect it to your train set using the body - mounted McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers. It's designed to work well on tracks with a minimum radius of 9 ¾”. When handling the car, be gentle with the etched metal stirrup steps as they are delicate. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they may damage the paint. Store the car in a dry place to prevent rust on the metal wheels and couplers. If you notice any loose parts, you can use a small amount of glue to secure them, but make sure to do it carefully so as not to affect the car's performance.
