The Digitrax SFX0416 is a wired mobile decoder with SoundFX® and FX3 function, designed for most HO and many N scale locomotives. It comes pre - loaded with selectable generic steam and diesel sound schemes. You can visit the Digitrax Sound Depot to customize the included sound project and download different ones. This decoder includes a 28mm 8 Ohm speaker and a 330uF capacitor. Note that the SFX0416 has no motor functions and should be used with a standard mobile decoder to add sound and extra functions to the locomotive. For N scale applications, the standard 28mm speaker needs to be replaced with a smaller one, and you can skip installing the capacitor. Since N - scale locomotives usually don't have enough space for both the SFX0416 and a motor decoder, you can install it in an N - scale car behind the locomotive. If your locomotive doesn't have a mobile decoder yet, choose one of our N - scale motor, sound, and function decoders. Specifications: Not a motor decoder, size 1.22” x 0.42” x 0.21” (31mm x 10.6mm x 5.3mm), wired installation, 4 - 200mA function outputs, FX3 function type, 8 Ohm 28mm round speaker, 330uF capacitor, 3 simultaneous voices, 16 Megabit onboard sound memory.

Using the Digitrax SFX0416 is easy. First, pair it with a standard mobile decoder in your locomotive as it doesn't have motor functions on its own. For N - scale models, swap the standard 28mm speaker with a smaller one and you can choose not to install the capacitor. If there's no space in your N - scale locomotive, install it in a car that runs behind. You can customize the sound by visiting the Digitrax Sound Depot. When it comes to maintenance, keep it clean and dry. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures. If you notice any issues with the sound or functions, check the connections first. And always refer to the official Digitrax guides for more in - depth troubleshooting.
