Rapido presents the 28552 EMD E8 Erie #824 in HO scale, featuring DCC & Sound. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The E-8 and its successor, the E-9, were iconic North American passenger locomotives from the 1950s to the 1970s. With 450 E8A and 46 E8B units produced, followed by 100 E9A and 44 E9B locos, they crisscrossed the continent. They later became the core of Amtrak's early fleet and were used in commuter service before retirement. Today, some are preserved in museums and tourist railroads. What sets Rapido's E8 and E9 models apart? We used a 3D laser scan of Union Pacific E8 #942 to ensure accurate nose, roof, and windshield contours. Our HO scale EMD E8A & E8B locomotives offer amazing features like a 3D laser-scanned body shell, accurate contours, multiple nose and back-end options, and more. There are also numerous road-specific detail parts in plastic and etched metal, making this model highly detailed and realistic.

Using this HO scale Rapido EMD E8 locomotive is easy. Just place it on your track and connect it to your DCC system to enjoy the sound and smooth operation. When handling the locomotive, be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate parts. For maintenance, regularly clean the wheels and pickups with a soft cloth to ensure good electrical contact. Check the body shell for any loose parts and tighten them if needed. Store the locomotive in a dry and dust - free place when not in use. If you want to change the lighting configuration or add more detail parts, follow the instructions carefully. And always remember to disconnect the power before making any adjustments.
