Introducing the brand - new Rapido HO scale Pacific Car & Foundry B - 100 - 40 boxcar! In 1976, 250 of these boxcars were exclusively delivered to the Southern Pacific. They have a 5195 - cu ft capacity, a full Hydra - Cushion underframe, 12' doors, Car Pac loaders, and the iconic half - height waffle sides. These utilitarian boxcars were used across the SP system and could be spotted all over the USA and Canada. Many are still in service today, some with SP successor Union Pacific and others in short - line service. In the mid - 1990's, Amtrak bought several cars from this series for express service on most trains, with minor modifications like a large wheel door handle, brackets for the end - of - train device, and struts on trucks for stability at high speeds.
As a follow - up in 1978, SP ordered 100 more cars in the B - 100 - 43 series with a similar design but a Keystone underframe and some small differences.
The Rapido Trains HO scale PC&F B - 100 - 40 boxcar has these great features: separately applied metal grab irons, scale - sized draft gear with a detailed Hydra - Cushion underframe, full underbody brake rigging, factory - installed Rapido semi - scale knuckle couplers, newly tooled trucks with turned metal 36' wheels, separate door rods and door tracks, road number specific number patches, and separately applied coupler cut levers. Picture may show a different road number.

Using this Rapido HO scale B - 100 - 40 boxcar is easy. You can simply place it on your model train track. It will smoothly run along with your other trains. When handling it, be gentle with the separately applied parts like the metal grab irons and coupler cut levers to avoid breakage.
For maintenance, regularly check the wheels to make sure they roll freely. You can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the boxcar's body and remove any dust. Keep it in a dry and cool place to prevent damage. Also, be careful when connecting it to other cars using the semi - scale knuckle couplers to ensure a proper connection.
