The Atlas 561 / #4 Customline® Left - Hand Code 83 Turnout in HO scale (#150 - 561) is a great choice for model train enthusiasts. These Custom - Line Turnouts are extremely accurate to the prototype. They feature blackened metal frogs and switch points without rivets, which offer excellent electrical conductivity. You can power these turnouts using an under - table switch machine or standard remote and manual code 83 switch machines. All Custom - Line Turnouts share the same geometry as the current Atlas code 100 versions, making them easy to install in Atlas' and other layout plans. However, note that you can't replace a Snap - Switch with a Custom - Line Turnout because their geometries are different.

Using this Atlas Customline® turnout is easy. First, make sure you have the right switch machine, either an under - table one or a standard remote or manual code 83 switch machine. Connect it to the turnout according to the machine's instructions. When installing, since it has the same geometry as Atlas code 100 turnouts, you can simply drop it into Atlas or other compatible layout plans. Just remember, you can't use it as a replacement for a Snap - Switch. For maintenance, occasionally check the electrical connections to ensure good conductivity. You can gently clean the blackened metal frogs and switch points with a soft brush to keep them in good condition. If you notice any loose parts, tighten them carefully.
