Railroad boxcars are well - known equipment in the industry and a symbol of it. In the early days, freight was hauled on flatcars or gondolas. This model is based on a late 1960’s design by Fruit Growers Express. Insulated, it's perfect for canned foods or temperature - sensitive cargo. The 10ft wide plug doors seal well against outside temperature, are easy for forklift loading, and offer a smooth interior wall. Boxcars are great as they can haul almost anything, and railroads love their redundancy for efficiency.
Using this Athearn HO scale box car is a breeze. Just connect it to your train using the body - mounted McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers. You can run it on tracks with a minimum radius of 18 inches. When it comes to maintenance, keep it clean. You can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they might damage the painted and printed details. Store it in a cool, dry place to prevent any warping of the injection - molded body. Also, make sure the 33” machined metal wheels roll freely. If you notice any issues with the 70 - ton roller bearing trucks, you may need to gently clean them.
