Prototype and Background:
In the 1960s, North American Car Corporation designed and built a 50’ outside post, insulated, plug door box car. This was a preview of future railroad developments. Many railroads rostered these cars, often leased to private shippers. The NACC cars had complex and colorful paint schemes. At the time of their construction, general leasing, billboard paint schemes, and modern freight handling techniques were still about a decade away.

Using this Athearn N Scale NACC 50' Box Car is easy. Just place it on your N - scale track and couple it with other cars using the McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers. It's designed to work well on tracks with a minimum radius of 9 ¾”. When handling the car, be gentle to avoid damaging the etched metal stirrup steps and other detailed parts. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body regularly. Check the wheels and couplers from time to time to make sure they're in good working condition. If you notice any loose parts, you can use a small amount of appropriate glue to fix them. Keep the car stored in a dry and clean place when not in use to maintain its quality.
