PROTOTYPE AND BACKGROUND INFO:
In the 1960s, the North American Car Corporation designed and built a 50’ outside post, insulated, plug - door box car. This was a glimpse into the future of railroading. Many railroads had these cars, often bought or leased by private shippers. The NACC cars had complex and colorful paint schemes. At that time, general leasing, billboard paint schemes, and modern freight handling were still about a decade away.

Using this Athearn ATH3857 N - scale box car is easy. Just place it on your N - scale track and couple it with other cars using the McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers. It's weighted for good performance, so it should run smoothly on the track with a minimum radius of 9 ¾”. When handling, be gentle with the etched metal stirrup steps and the machined 33” metal wheels to avoid damage. For maintenance, you can use a soft brush to clean the wheels and the body regularly. Keep it in a dry and dust - free place when not in use. Make sure the track is clean to ensure the best running experience.
